Today, I’m excited to give you a glimpse into The Big Talk Academy Virtual Showcase. While there are many wonderful experiences for the speakers inside this program, the virtual showcase is always a powerful one.
This showcase is a chance for these thought leaders to share their big ideas in front of an audience of experts, influencers, and peers. It is also their opportunity to get live constructive feedback and direction from me.
These speakers work incredibly hard crafting, memorizing, and performing these talks, and it is my privilege to share them with you on the podcast.
This week’s episode features Wayne Basinger and his talk, “Being a Little Bit Deaf Is Not a Disability; It’s a Superpower.”
Wayne is a 21-year teaching veteran who loves his students and is passionate about his philosophy and art history classes. He has presented at numerous educational conferences. Wayne just published his first book, Just Give Up: 13 Toxic Mindsets to Give Up Instead of Your Teaching Career.
In his talk, he explores:
His journey as a teacher who experienced hearing loss
The stress and burnout created by COVID and how it affected teachers
What to do when your internal critic takes over and self doubt creeps in
Why being deaf is a superpower,
not a disability, and how you can become a little bit deaf,
too
